On D-Day June 6, 1944 and the days that followed, the church was used as a medical aid station by men of the famed 101st Airborne Division and more specifically two medics from the 501st PIR, named Robert Wright and Kenneth Moore. The two men saved the lives and eased the suffering of many a friend and foe alike. Unfortunately, a small child from the village was unable to be saved. |

darauffolgenden Tagen wurde die Kirche von Angoville en Plain von
Sanitätern des 501 Regimentes der 101 Luftlande Division als
Sanitätsposten genutzt. Es waren Robert Wright und Kenneth Moore. Die beiden Sanis retten die Leben von Soldaten beider Seiten. Leider konnte ein verletztes Kind aus dem Dorf nicht gerettet werden. Auf den Bänken der Kirche kann noch heute das Blut der Soldaten gesehen werden! |

| Les Dunes de Varreville Gneral Leclerc was born with the name Philippe de Hauteclocque. During the German occupation of France, he managed to escape to London, where he joined the Free French of General De Gaulle. There he took the name Leclerc, to protect his family in France. He landded here with the 2nd free French Arour Division after D-Day Hier landete General Leclerc (Bürgerlich Hauteclocque) der seinen Namen während der Besetzung Frankreichs zum Schutz seiner Familie änderte, mit der 2. freien französischen Panzerdivision. |
